You Receive an Error Message When You Use the Inbox Repair Tool to Scan a .pst File

When you use the Inbox Repair Tool (the Scanpst.exe file) to scan a personal folders (.pst) file for errors, you may receive the following error message, even if there are no errors in the file:
Internal errors were found in this file. They must be repaired for this file to work correctly.
This behavior can occur when the folder file that you are scanning is a Microsoft SharePoint Team Services folder that is synchronized with the default .pst file. The Inbox Repair Tool checks for the standard Microsoft Outlook folders, including a Deleted Items folder.
However, the Microsoft SharePoint Team Services .pst files do not have a Deleted Items folder, so the Inbox Repair Tool returns the error message that is referenced in the "Symptoms" section of this article.
