The Internet Mail Connector may crash when it tries to route messages from an Exchange Server 5.5 computer to an Exchange Server 5.5 computer that is in a different organization

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5, the Internet Mail Connector (IMC) may crash when the following conditions are true:
  • The IMC tries to route messages from an Exchange Server 5.5 computer to an Exchange Server 5.5 computer that is in a different organization.
  • The IMC tries to route the messages through an SMTP connector.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the Exchange Server 5.5 computer that sends the messages does not have the correct code pages installed.

RESOLUTION
