Links in HTML Help Topics Are Unavailable or No Longer Work

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Help file that uses HTML, you may experience some of the following problems with links that previously worked:

Some links do not appear.
Some links appear as a small box with a dot in the center.
Some links may not take you to the help topic when you click them.

CAUSE

This problem may occur after you install the Microsoft Internet Explorer cumulative security patches that are described in the following articles in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
