SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. In Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, you are migrating Exchange Server 5.5 mailboxes to personal folder (.pst) files. To do this, you use the Migrate to .pst files option in the Exchange Server Migration Wizard. However, the Migration Wizard may crash when you use it to migrate users' mailboxes to .pst files.

CAUSE

The Migration Wizard crashes after a .pst file reaches 2-gigabyte (2-GB) limit.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Exchange Server 2003. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

MORE INFORMATION

The behavior that is described in the Symptoms section is not the expected behavior. If you are migrating a mailbox that is larger than 2 GB, you expect the Migration Wizard to generate a second .pst file when the first .pst file reaches 2 GB.
