SYMPTOMS

When you use the IOCTL_ATA_PASS_THROUGH I/O control (IOCTL) handler to process an I/O function call by using the METHOD_BUFFERED method, you may experience the following symptoms:
  • You may receive the following error message flag:
    STATUS_IO_DEVICE_ERROR
Additionally, the error flag does not report that the task registers are intact.
  • Your application cannot send a DMA protocol command or a DMA QUEUED protocol command.
  • If your application calls ATAPI by using a FlushScatterGatherList for a NON_DMA command, the data buffer is overwritten with zeros.
