SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, the MSExchangeMTA service may stop responding. Incoming or outgoing messages that are delivered through the MSExchangeMTA service may not be delivered. The messages may become stuck in queues.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
