This article describes why the Microsoft Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes service may stop after event IDs 8226 and 8227 are logged in the Microsoft Exchange Server server that is running this service. Additionally, this article lists the steps that you can follow to resolve this problem.
The Microsoft Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes service stops in Microsoft Exchange Server. Additionally, events that are similar to the following are logged in the Exchange Server server that is running the Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes service:
Verify that the Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes is correctly configured. If any parameters are incorrectly entered, update these parameters, as required. To do this, follow these steps:
Start Exchange System Manager.
Expand Administrative Groups, expand Your_Administrative_Group, and then expand Connectors.
Right-click Connector for Lotus Notes (Exchange_Server_Name), and then click Properties.
On the General tab, verify that the Domino server name is correctly entered in the following form in the Notes Server box:
ServerName/DomainName
Exit Exchange System Manager.
Verify that the Lotus Notes client is correctly configured. If any parameters are incorrectly entered, update these parameters, as required. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, point to Programs, point to Lotus Applications, and then click Lotus Notes.
Type the password for the Notes administrator account, and then click OK.
In the left pane, click the Databases icon.
Double-click Workspace to open the databases in Lotus Notes.
Double-click DomainName's Address Book on ServerName. The Names.nsf database opens in Lotus Notes.
In the left pane, click Server, click Domains, and then click the Basics tab if it is not already selected.
Leave the Foreign Domain option selected in the Domain type list.
Verify that the Foreign domain name box, contains the following text:
exchange
Click the Mail Information tab.
In the Gateway server name box, verify that the name of the Lotus Domino server to which Connector for Lotus Notes will connect is correctly entered. This is the Lotus Domino bridgehead server. This box must contain the full name of the server. This includes the certifier information. For example, the box should contain text that is similar to the following:
DominoServerName/CertifierName
In the Gateway mail file name box, verify that the following text is entered:exchange.box
Click Close.
Determine whether the problem still persists after you have verified the configuration as described in steps 1 and 2. If the problem persists, you must create a new Exchange mailbox. To do this, follow these steps:
In the Service snap-in stop the Microsoft Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes and the Connectivity Controller services.
On the Domino Server, rename the exchange.box mailbox to exchange1.box.
On the Exchange server, start the Lotus Notes client.
On the File menu, point to Database, and then click New.
In the Server list, click the Domino server.
In the Title box, type exchange.box.
In the File Name box, change the default name that appears from exchange.nsf to exchange.box.
Click Template Server, and then select the server that is running Lotus Notes Domino from the Server list.
Click OK.
In the list that appears at the bottom of the New Database dialog box, click Mail Router Mailbox (5.0), and then click OK.
Press the ESC key two times, and then press F9 to update the display in the Administration - Domino Administrator window.
The exchange.box database appears on the Files tab in the Title column.
Click exchange.box, and then click Manage ACL on the Database menu.
Click Add, and then click the blue person icon that appears next to the Add a person, server or group name box.
In the list at the upper-left corner of the Names dialog box, click DomainName's Address Book.
Click the connector account, click Add, and then click OK.
In the User list, click Person.
In the Access list, click Manager, click to select the Delete documents check box, and then click OK.
Click OK if you receive the following message:
1 database processed - 0 errors
Open both mailboxes in the Lotus Notes client, and then copy the messages from the
exchange1.box mailbox to the exchange.box mailbox.
On the File menu, click Exit Administrator.
In the Services snap-in, start the Connectivity Controller and Microsoft Connector for Lotus Notes services.
