FIX: A network redirect driver may not work correctly in Windows Vista

Expand all | Collapse all

SYMPTOMS

When you try to use a network redirector driver in Windows Vista, the driver may not work correctly.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the driver links to the Windows Driver Kit (WDK) Redirected Drive Buffering SubSystem (RDBSS) library (Rdbsslib.lib). The Rdbsslib.lib library that is provided with the WDK for Windows Vista may handle prefix resolution for network redirector drivers incorrectly.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, use the latest version of the WDK. For more information and to download the latest version of the WDK, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/default.mspx (http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/default.mspx)

MORE INFORMATION

The WDK provides a driver build environment for each supported target operating system. Each driver build environment contains a unique Rdbsslib.lib file. If you experience problems with prefix resolution, build a separate driver for each target operating system. For more information about how to build a network redirector driver by using the WDK, visit the following Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) Web site:
