How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
After you install the 2007 Microsoft Office system, the
current default e-mail client is changed to Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. For
example, your default e-mail client changes from Microsoft Outlook Express to
Outlook 2007.
If you have not deployed the 2007 Office
system, use the Office Customization Tool (OCT) to create an .msp file. Then, use the .msp file to deploy the 2007 Office system. To do this, follow these steps:
Start the OCT. To do this, click Start,
click Run, type Office installation
CD\setup.exe /admin, and then click
OK.
Note The /admin switch is used only for Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007.
In the Select Product dialog box, click
OK.
In the navigation pane, click Modify Setup
properties in the Setup area.
Click Add to add one or more of the following properties
and values.

Note The names of these properties are case-sensitive. The names must be typed in all uppercase letters. Additionally, not all the properties are required. For
example, if you only want to keep Outlook 2007 from being the default e-mail
client, use only the OUTLOOKASDEFAULTMAILAPP property.
To prevent users from being prompted to set the default
e-mail, calendar, and contacts client when they start Outlook 2007 for the
first time, follow these step in the OCT:
In the navigation pane, click Modify user
settings in the Features area.
Expand Microsoft Office Outlook 2007,
expand Tools | Options, and then click Other.
Double-click Make Outlook the default program
for E-mail, Contacts, and Calendar, click to select the
Disabled check box, and then click OK.
On the File menu, click
Save to save the .msp file.
Exit the OCT.
Put the .msp file in the Office installation
CD\Updates folder.
Install the 2007 Office system from the 2007 Office system installation CD.
Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry
incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems
might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot
guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own
risk.
If you have deployed the 2007 Office
system, and you want to change the default e-mail, calendar, and contacts
client, follow these steps:
Start the OCT. To do this, click Start,
click Run, type Office installation
CD\setup.exe /admin, and then click

Note The /admin switch is used only for Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007.
In the Select Product dialog box, click
