On a Window Server 2008-based computer, the Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) auto-scavenging process may not start as expected at the expiration of the configured interval. Instead, the scavenging process may be delayed for a long time. Additionally, this delay may cause high memory consumption on the computer.
To make sure that scavenging occurs at set intervals, create a script or a scheduled job that starts the scavenging process. This script must include the functionality that is embedded in the following steps:
