Error message that has an error code 80005000 when you run Antigen 9.0 in a cluster environment: "ERROR: ADGetStorage - Could not bind to Active Directory configuration context"

SYMPTOMS

You run Microsoft Antigen 9.0 for Microsoft Exchange in a cluster environment, and the Exchange cluster group has more than one Network Name resource. In this case, Antigen selects the first Network Name resource, and this selection may be incorrect.

For example, consider the following scenario:

You have Veritas Backup Exec or another third-party backup application installed on the server.
A Network Name resource for the backup application is present in the Exchange cluster group.

In this scenario, Antigen may select the backup application Network Name instead of the Exchange Virtual Server (EVS) Network Name that is expected from Active Directory directory service. Therefore, Antigen cannot correctly retrieve storage groups. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

ERROR: ADGetStorage - Could not bind to Active Directory configuration context. Error code: 80005000

To resolve this issue, install Hotfix Rollup 3 for Antigen 9.0 for Exchange with Service Pack 1. Note Before you install Hotfix Rollup 3 for Antigen 9.0 for Exchange with Service Pack 1, you must have Antigen 9.0 for Exchange with Service Pack 1 installed.

After you install Hotfix Rollup 3 for Antigen 9.0 for Exchange with Service Pack 1, Antigen uses the GetExchVirtualServerNames function to detect the network name. Then, Antigen searches for the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant resource, and Antigen retrieves the NetworkName property.
