SymptomWhen you try to install Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 on Windows Server 2008, the installation fails and rolls back. Additionally, you receive the following error message: Account Verification Error Setup is unable to confirm the account details. For Operations Manager SDK accounts, make sure it is a local Administrator account. To continue setup, go back and enter the correct account information. You may run into a similar issue while installing System Center Operations Manager 2012 on Windows 2008.In this case, the below message is displayed when the account validation fails: "One or more accounts provided could not be validated, please provide valid user names and passwords" CauseThis problem can occur because the version number of the KRBTGT account increases when you perform an authoritative restoration. The KRBTGT account is a service account that is used by the Kerberos Key Distribution Center (KDC) service.
ResolutionTo resolve this problem, apply the Hotfix mentioned in this section to all the Windows Server 2003-based domain controllers in the domain. This Hotfix prevents the problem before you perform an authoritative restoration. This Hotfix also fixes the problem when you have already performed an authoritative restoration. 939820
