Things to Try

Word doesn't allow you to paste into a vertically selected block of text.

Cancel the vertical block selection and then position the insertion point at the location where you want the text to appear. Click Paste on the Edit menu.

For more information about selecting text, click Microsoft Word Help on the Help menu, type How do I select text? in the Office Assistant or the Answer Wizard, and then click Search to view the topics returned.
