SYMPTOMS

If you use the Windows Security option to lock a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer or a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer that resides in a workgroup, your computer's screen saver functionality may not work.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if one of the following conditions is true, depending on your operating system:
  • In Windows 2000, you turn off the CTRL+ALT+DEL requirement for logon in the Local Security Policy Setting dialog box.
  • In Windows XP, you click to clear the Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Del check box on the Advanced tab in the User Accounts dialog box.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
