SYMPTOMS

When the Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) reauthenticates across access points with Internet Protocol (IP) subnets that differ, the DHCP service on the client does not obtain a new IP address.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2.
