Default picklist value in an Opportunity, Contact, or Account is not set if the record is created from Lead conversion in Microsoft CRMArticle ID: 830360 - View products that this article applies to. On This PageSYMPTOMSMicrosoft CRM supports default picklist values that are set when new Opportunity, Contact, or Account records are created. However, when you create an Opportunity, Contact or Account by converting an existing lead record, the default values are not set properly. Although they initially show correctly in the Microsoft CRM Web application, the database record actually stores NULL, rather than the appropriate default value. RESOLUTION
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply the hotfix only to systems that experience this problem.
