You may be unable to use Windows Internet Explorer 7 or Internet Explorer 8 to download files on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP. For example, after you click Save in the File Download dialog box, the file is not downloaded.
Cause This problem occurs if the Japanese Input Method Editor (IME) is the default keyboard layout. This problem occurs because the Msctf.dll file sends the download command to an invalid thread.
ResolutionHotfix informationWindows Server 2003A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
