Object changes or new objects may be lost when the ADAM Synchronizer tool in Windows Server 2003 synchronizes data from Active Directory to ADAM

SYMPTOMS

You use the Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) Synchronizer (Adamsync) tool in Windows Server 2003 to synchronize data from Active Directory directory service to ADAM. Then, some object changes or new objects may be silently lost.

This problem may cause unexpected behavior for your applications. For example, if an application uses ADAM to authenticate users, the user authentication may fail. Also, Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) queries may return incorrect results.

CAUSE

The ADAM Synchronizer tool maintains a stack for LDAP queries and for query results. Sometimes, the results may be interleaved. In some interleaving scenarios, the ADAM Synchronizer tool may stop searching prematurely. Therefore, some attributes are not synchronized.
