SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You enable tracing for any Group Policy extension in the following location in the German version of Windows Server 2008-based systems:
    Computer Configuration\Polices\Administrative Templates\System\Group Policy\Logging and Tracing
  • In the properties dialog box, you can configure the Tracing option after you enable this policy.
In this scenario, tracing is enabled when you select Off, and tracing is disabled when you select On. (You expect tracing to be disabled when you select Off and to be enabled when you select On.)

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Grouppolicypreferences.adml file that is included in the German version of Windows Server 2008-based systems uses incorrect code for the tracing option.
