INTRODUCTION

BitLocker To Go Reader (bitlockertogo.exe) is an application that enables you to access the BitLocker-protected drives. When you use BitLocker To Go Reader in Windows Vista and in Windows XP, you can open and view the content of the BitLocker-protected drives that are encrypted in Windows 7. By default, BitLocker To Go Reader is stored on an un-encrypted part of removable drives that are protected with BitLocker.

Users and IT administrators may want to use a local, trusted copy of the application. Therefore, BitLocker To Go Reader is being released as an Out of Band (OOB) application for Windows Vista and for Windows XP. To download a copy of BitLocker To Go Reader, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

MORE INFORMATION

To use BitLocker To Go Reader on a computer that is running Windows XP or Windows Vista, your BitLocker-protected removable drive must be formatted by using the exFAT, FAT16, or FAT32 file system. If the drive is NTFS formatted, it can only be unlocked on a computer that is running Windows 7.
