Installation information

Install this update rollup on computers that are running the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 server components, or the Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Microsoft Office Outlook components. If MSI 4.5 is not installed than an internet connection is required to install Update Rollup 7 on Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Microsoft Office Outlook as it will need to download MSI 4.5. You will need to reboot the computer that is running Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Microsoft Office Outlook after you install Update Rollup 7.

You must install the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Language Pack before you install Update Rollup 7 for MUI. To obtain the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Language Pack, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=50761e58-6040-4cf3-853a-f5ab535f7194
Select the appropriate language in the Change Language drop downbox and then click Change to download the correct Language Pack. If you had the Language Packs installed previously, you must deprovision the Language Pack and then reprovision the Language Pack after you install Update Rollup 7 for MUI. When you unprovision the Language Pack, the language settings are reverted to the base language for all Microsoft Dynamics CRM users who use that language. The reprovision of the Language Pack does not update the users’ language settings. You must reset the language settings in the personal options.

After you install this update rollup, delete the temporary files in Windows Internet Explorer. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. lick Tools, and then click Internet Options.
  3. Use one of the following methods for the version of Internet Explorer that you use:
    • In Windows Internet Explorer 7, click  Delete in the Browsing history area, click Delete files in the Temporary Internet Files area, and then click Yes.
    • In Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, click Delete files in the Temporary Internet Files area, and then click OK.

The installation location of some Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Microsoft Office Outlook files is moved from the roaming profile to the local profile.

To reduce the size of your roaming profile or if you are experiencing long logon times, complete the steps in the following Knowledge Base article to remove the remaining files: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2004583

Issues that were not previously documented in a Knowledge Base article

Update Rollup 7 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 resolves the following issues that were not previously documented in a Knowledge Base article:
  • No price list is displayed in the Price List lookup box if the pricelist attribute is removed and then added back to the Account form.
  • You cannot distribute campaign activities if the marketing lists of the campaign contain many members, such as 150,000 members. When you do this, you receive an invalid out-of-memory exception and the job remains in a waiting state.
  • The XmlSerializers assembly does not work as expected if you add the Microsoft.Crm.SdkTypeProxy.XmlSerializers.dll assembly to the global assembly cache (GAC) on a computer that is running 32-bit operating system. This problem occurs because the Microsoft Dynamics CRM service generates a temporary assembly by using serializers instead of using the Microsoft.Crm.SdkTypeProxy.XmlSerializers.dll assembly.
  • Consider one of the following scenarios:
    • You change an item in Microsoft Office Outlook that is tracked in Microsoft Dynamics CRM. However, Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Microsoft Office Outlook is disabled.
    • You change an item in Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access (OWA).
    • You change an item in Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile Access from a mobile phone.
When you synchronize Outlook with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, the data that you changed in the item is not propagated to Microsoft Dynamics CRM. If you update the item in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, the changes that you made are lost.
  • Assume that you specify a future date as a cancel date for a contract. However, the contract is canceled immediately.
  • Assume that you send an e-mail message by clicking Send Direct Email. You use an account e-mail template for this e-mail message. However, the data of the corresponding Contact entities is not populated in the e-mail message.
  • You perform a search on queue items in the Advanced Find view. Additionally, you add the sender field or the recipient field in the column of the view. However, when the search is finished, no data is displayed in these added fields. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
To use this saved view, you must remove criteria and columns that refer to deleted or non-searchable items.
  • You import an entity record that has a relationship to itself. When the import job is finished, the status of the imported record is still "Importing."
  • You cannot export more than 5,000 contacts from a marketing list.
  • When you click Copy Shortcut on the More Actions menu in an entity record, the resulting URL in the clipboard contains braces ({}) around the GUID. However, the braces are not supported in some e-mail clients.
  • When you create a custom label for a relationship between two entities, the default value instead of the custom label is displayed.
  • You manually create a URL to download an attachment. However, when you visit the URL, the Open button is not removed. Therefore, you can still open the attachment by clicking Open.
  • You cannot import customizations from Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online to a Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 on-premise environment.
  • Consider the following scenario: you create a workflow rule on a Boolean-type field or a text-type field. The workflow rule triggers the workflow rule if the "Record attributes change" event occurs. Then, you merge two records that have default attributes specified. In this scenario, the workflow is triggered even though no registered attribute is changed.
  • Assume that you install Update Rollup 5 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. Then, you use the following code to validate datetime fields:
    crmForm.all.<datetimeattribute>.DataValue instanceof Date
Note The <datetimeattribute> placeholder represents the actual datetime attribute, such as birthdate.

However, the validation returns "false" instead of "true."
  • You reorder the pick list options for a statuscode attribute in a Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 entity customization. However, when you open a record of the entity, the order of the pick list options for the statuscode attribute is not the order that you reordered.
  • When you delete records, the ExtensionBase records for the corresponding child records are not deleted as expected.
  • Assume that you add certain contacts to a marketing list by using the Advanced Find feature. Additionally, you use a related entity, such as "Accounts (Primary Contact)." However, you do not use any account attributes. In this scenario, additional contacts are added to the marketing list in the Advanced Find view.
  • Assume that you have the user-level Read privilege on activities. Additionally, you enable the
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRM\EnableRetrieveMultipleOptimization
registry key. In this scenario, you cannot see the attachments of the activities that you own.
  • Assume that you have a report in which the report parameters must obtain data from the database. When you run the report, a time-out error occurs.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You create a data map.
    • You have several pick lists to map.
    • The items in the various pick lists are different.
    • You perform the "List Values" mapping for the pick lists.
In this scenario, you receive the following error message when you switch to the next pick list after you perform the mapping for the first pick list:
    Error On page.
Additionally, when you try to save the data map, you receive a Microsoft Dynamics CRM script error.
