Description of the SharePoint Server 2010 Cumulative Update Server Hotfix Package (MOSS server-package): March 3, 2011

Cumulative update packages for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 contain hotfixes for the SharePoint Server 2010 issues that were fixed since the release of SharePoint Server 2010.

Note This is build 14.0.5136.5002 of the cumulative update package.

We recommend that you test hotfixes before you deploy them in a production environment. Because the builds are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security updates that were included with the previous SharePoint Server 2010 update package releases.

Important notes about the cumulative update package

• The Microsoft Office 2010 hotfixes are now multilingual. This cumulative update package contains updates for all languages.
• This cumulative update package includes all the server component packages. Additionally, this cumulative update package updates only those components that are installed on the system.
  

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

• Assume that you have a Site Aggregator web part on a Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 site. When you try to add a site to the web part, there is no such a button that lets you to do this.
  
• Assume that the display language of your My Site page is not the default language. You view the activity feed of another user in your My Site page. In this situation, certain property values are missing in the user’s profile.
  
• In SharePoint Server 2010, the following error message that is generated from the taxonomy hidden list is logged:
  
  
  The attempted operation is prohibited because it exceeds the list view threshold enforced by the administrator.<nativehr>0x80070024</nativehr><nativestack>owssvr.dll: (unresolved symbol, module offset=00000000002172A9) at 0x000007FEED2B72A9
• Assume that you type some text in the Ask Me About field in a non-English SharePoint Server 2010 site. In this situation, your profile page does not load when another user tries to view it.
  
• You can publish a page without filling the required fields of the page in a SharePoint Server 2010 publishing site.
  
• A user uploads his profile picture through a HTTP website in SharePoint Server 2010. However, you cannot view the user’s profile picture through a HTTPS website from your My Site page.
  
• You tag a discussion list item in a SharePoint Server 2010 site. Then, you browse to the tag profile page. In this situation, the Tagged Items web part does not display the tagged discussion list item when you use the All view in the web part.
  
• When you perform an upgrade from Office SharePoint Server 2007 to SharePoint Server 2010, the Office SharePoint Server 2007 import process is very slow.
  
• An item that is not published is visible in SharePoint Server 2010 site navigation. When you click the item, you receive the following error message:
  
  
  Access Denied
• You cannot perform user profile synchronization job in SharePoint Server 2010 after you reset the password for the User Profile Synchronization service account.
  
• When a SQL server failover occurs, you have to manually reconfigure User Profile Service Application (UPA) before you restart the User Profile Synchronization service in SharePoint Server 2010. This hotfix provides support to reconfigure UPA automatically after a SQL server failover.
  
• Consider the following scenario. You perform a full user profile synchronization job in SharePoint Server 2010. Then, you set your My Sitepage display language to a language other than the default language. In this scenario, certain property names of the user information are not displayed in that language.
  
• Consider the following scenario. You use the Term Store Management Tool to add a word to an item as a keyword in a SharePoint Server 2010 site. Then, you perform a search for the keyword. In this scenario, you receive the following error message:
  
  
  There was an error processing the request/The taxonomy item type '8' is unknown
• You cannot create an AD DS synchronization connection that has multiple domains selected after you install the Cumulative Update package that is described in Knowledge Base (KB) article 2459257.
  
• You change a user’s user account name in AD DS. Then, you perform a user profile synchronization job in SharePoint Server 2010. In this situation, the user’s user profile account name is not updated.
  
• The delete export commands increase in the export queue in SharePoint Server 2010. In this situation, the Business Data Catalog synchronization process becomes very slow.
  
• In SharePoint Server 2010, the confirming import file contains the following error message:
  
  
  reference-value-not-ldap-conformant
• The old confirming import files are not deleted after a successful full import job in SharePoint Server 2010. In this situation, the full import jobs that follow may become very slow.
  
• More than one distinguished name (DN) may be assigned to a user account in SharePoint Server 2010 after you run a Forefront Identity Manager (FIM) synchronization job. This issue specifically occurs when the user account name is reused in AD DS.
  
• Assume that you perform a synchronization job after a group is deleted in SharePoint Server 2010. In this situation, certain recursive membership records of the deleted group are not deleted in the MembershipRecursive table.
  
• Assume that you set a publishing site’s welcome page to the allitems.aspx page of current site’s pages library in SharePoint Server 2010. In this situation, the welcome page loads slowly.
  
• Consider the following scenario. You start the Managed Metadata Web Service service in SharePoint Server 2010. Then, you try to create a managed term by using a term name that contains special characters. In this scenario, you receive the following error message:
  
  
  Name cannot contain any of the following characters: " ; < > | and Tab.
• Consider the following scenario:
  
  • You enable the publishing feature in a SharePoint Server 2010 site.
  • You add a new blog post on the site.
  • You type some text in the body section of the blog.
  • You select the blog’s body section to edit the text.
    
  In this scenario, the Spelling command on the ribbon is disabled.
  
• Consider the following scenario:
  
  • You create a page in a SharePoint Server 2010 site that has the publishing feature enabled.
  • You add a reusable content item and a web part to the page.
  • You save the page.
    
  In this scenario, the reusable content item does not display on the page.
  
• A new UPA provision job takes a long time to finish in a SharePoint Server 2010 hosting environment.

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problems that are described in this article.
