SYMPTOMS

When you perform an unattended installation of the System Center Virtual Machine Manager Server, the installation prompts you for the product key. However, because a product key is not provided with the installation media, you cannot complete the installation.

For example, this problem occurs when you run the following command to perform an unattended installation:
Setup.exe /server /i /f vmserver.ini

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the System Center Virtual Machine Manager Server does not support unattended installations.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, double-click the Setup.exe file to perform an attended installation for the System Center Virtual Machine Manager Server.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
