This article explains how to create a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation that can be viewed on computers that do not have PowerPoint installed.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later provides better support for PowerPoint 2002 slide show features than does the earlier versions of Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer. Therefore, to get the highest slide show fidelity on computers that do not have PowerPoint installed, save your presentation as a Web page, so that it can be viewed in Internet Explorer.
Unsupported Features in the PowerPoint ViewerThe PowerPoint Viewer that is provided with earlier versions of PowerPoint does not support any slide show features that have been added after PowerPoint 97. PowerPoint 2002 includes many new slide show features that are lost if you display the slide show in the PowerPoint Viewer. Therefore, Microsoft recommends that you use the method described in this article to distribute presentations to computers that do not have PowerPoint 2002 installed.
