When you try to start your Windows 98-based computer, you may receive an
Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) error message on a red
screen.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if your computer has a hardware or Basic
Input/Output System (BIOS) problem. ACPI error messages on a red screen
are generated by a computer's BIOS.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, contact the manufacturer of your computer's BIOS to
inquire about the availability of a fix for this issue.
