'Configure Internet Mail' wizard crashes on SBS 2008

Symptoms

When you try to configure a Smart Host server for Internet e-mail using the 'Configure Internet Mail' wizard, the wizard may crash after you click next on the 'Specify settings for outbound Internet mail' page.

If you analyze the CIMW.log file located under C:\Program Files\Windows Small Business Server\Logs folder, you would see something similar:

Cause

This issue can occur if the Windows SBS Internet Send connector is not associated with the correct Hub Transport server.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

1.) Open Exchange Management Console.

2.) Expand Organization Configuration, click Hub Transport.

3.) In the middle-pane, click on the Send Connectors tab

4.) Open the properties page of Windows SBS Internet Send connector.

5.) Click on the Source Server tab

6.) Click Add, select SBS2008 server from the list and click Ok.
