Cannot Install Language Monitor-Based Printer Driver as a Power UserArticle ID: 244938 - View products that this article applies to. This article was previously published under Q244938 SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to install a Microsoft Language Monitor-based printer driver in Windows 2000 from the console of a computer on which the operating system is located on an NTFS partition and you are logged on as a member of the Power Users group, the installation of the driver does not succeed. The following error message is generated after files are copied and you click Finish:
Printer driver was not installed - access denied
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because a Language Monitor dynamic-link library (DLL) file needs to be copied to the System32 folder. However, only administrators and the system can write to this folder. Members of the Users group cannot install printers, and so do not encounter this issue.
