If you upgrade your computer to Windows XP from Windows 98 with Windows Installer 1.1, user profiles may not be migrated. When this occurs,
the following message appears in the Windows XP upgrade report:
Settings That Will Not Be Upgraded Shared user account CAUSE
If a user profile is created after the installation of Windows Installer 1.1, some system information is set to refer to the system shared folder, not the user profile folder.
RESOLUTION
To avoid this problem, create user profiles before the installation of Windows Installer 1.1.
STATUSThis behavior is by design.
This is the design of the environment settings for the migration of Windows 98 with Windows Installer 1.1.

This symptom does not occur with Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me).
