NOTE: The BuildVersion of WMI version 1.5, which is an integrated component of Windows 2000, is 1085.0005. For example, the version of WMI that is included with Windows XP is 5.1.2600.0.
WMI version 1.0x was first released with both Microsoft Windows 98 and Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 (SP3). Distributions were also available for Microsoft Windows 95-based computers.

The WMI distribution that is included with SMS is also referred to as Wbemsdk.
WMI version 1.2x was included with Microsoft Windows 2000 Beta 3. This version was also distributed with Windows NT 4.0 for both SP4 and Service Pack 5 (SP5).
WMI version 1.5x, commonly referred to as build 1085, was released as an integrated component of Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me). Distributions are also available for Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT-based computers.
