SUMMARYWhen using a Digital TV tuner with Media Center there are no options under Settings > TV > Recorder > Recording Defaults to set the quality of Recorded TV. SYMPTOMSWhen using a Digital TV tuner (i.e. DVB-T) with Media Center there are no options under Settings > TV > Recorder > Recording Defaults to set the quality of Recorded TV. RESOLUTIONThere is no solution to this because the process which employed these settings is not required for digital television. In contrast to analogue, digital television directly receives [typically] an MPEG2 stream from the broadcaster. The broadcaster is ultimately responsible for the resolution and bitrates of content. No encoding takes place so these options are hidden in the Media Center UI. If size of recording is a concern 3rd party applications can be used to transcode DRM free recordings to other formats. However standard definition content recordings of the same show using digital tuner will usually be smaller than the analogue version.
