security update on a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 server that is running Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) 4.0, and certain Internet Server API (ISAPI)
filters are installed, the Inetinfo.exe process may not respond, and an access violation exception may occur.On servers that are experiencing this problem, the Drwtsn32.log file contains a fault at the following line: CAUSEThis problem occurs when an ISAPI filter registers for the
SF_NOTIFY_PREPROC_HEADERS notification and handles the request from this
notification. In this case, IIS tries to access a non-existent metadata object,
and an access violation occurs. RESOLUTIONA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. To resolve this problem, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix.
