Consider the following scenario:
  • In Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, you try to manually record a program on an Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) channel.
  • The channel is not listed in the Program Guide.
In this scenario, you may receive the following error message:
Schedule Problem: The recording could not be scheduled for an unknown reason. Restart Media Center and try to schedule your recording again.


The ATSC channel must be listed in the Program Guide to manually record the program.


To resolve this problem, manually add the ATSC channel to the Program Guide. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Press the Windows Media Center Start button on the Media Center remote control.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select TV.
  4. Select Guide.
  5. Select Add Missing Channels.
  6. Select Add Channel, and then follow the instructions on the screen to add the ATSC channel.
  7. When you have completed the changes, select Save.


Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
