More information

This hotfix addresses the problem by letting you encrypt and then store this information in the registry.

After you apply this hotfix, you must obtain the following tool for this hotfix to work correctly:
329290 How to use the ASP.NET utility to encrypt credentials and session state connection strings
To store your credentials in the registry, follow the steps in Q329290. After you finish the steps, edit your Config file so that it reads the information from the registry. To do this, use the following sample code:
<processModel>
    enable="true"
    userName="registry:HKLM\Software\SomeKey,somevalue"
    password="registry:HKLM\Software\SomeKey,somevalue"
    ...
</processModel>
