Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in an Active Directory domain environment:

  • You configure large scale DNS servers.

  • You have a multi-homed DNS client that is running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008.

  • You try to use the DNS dynamic update protocol to register the network adapters that are on the DNS client to the domain controller and DNS servers.

In this scenario, you notice that some adapters are not registered.

Cause

This issue occurs because of a synchronization problem in the DNS registration process that updates the global registry adapter values when the DNS client retrieves the details of the network adapters from the global registry.
