Symptoms
Assume that you install the cumulative update packages for Microsoft SQL Server 2012. When you open the main page of a Microsoft SQL Server Master Data Services (MDS) web application, you may receive the following error message:
The client version is incompatible with the database version. Ask your administrator to upgrade the client components, the database components, or both. Run the Master Data Services Configuration Manager on the server for more information.
Note When you use MDS Configuration Manager to check the version information of MDS, the version of MDS differs from the version of SQL Server.
