Symptoms

Issue 1:

Consider the following scenario:

  • You use the Add Replica to Availability Group wizard to add an Azure replica to your AlwaysOn availability group in Microsoft SQL Server 2014.

  • You have no Affinity Groups that are configured in your Windows Azure subscription.

  • You input your Windows Azure subscription ID in the Add Azure Replica wizard.

In this scenario, the Add Azure Replica wizard cannot enumerate the Azure Virtual Network list under the Virtual Network drop-down box.

Issue 2:

Assume that you try to use the Add Replica to Availability Group wizard to add an Azure replica to your AlwaysOn availability group in Microsoft SQL Server 2014. When you provision an Azure virtual machine (VM), you may experience a failure at the beginning of creating a new Azure VM (no VM is actually created in the subscription), and you receive the following error message:

Attempting to provision Windows Azure VM 'vmname' resulted in an error. (Microsoft.SQLServer.Management.HadrTasks)

More Information

Allocating a new Azure virtual network is now defined in a region, and no longer defined by using an Affinity Group. The Add Azure Replica wizard enumerates the Azure virtual networks through Affinity Group. Therefore, the wizard cannot display the Azure virtual networks in the Virtual Network drop-down list on the Add Azure Replica dialog box of the Add Azure Replica wizard.

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
