Symptoms
You create an index on a large table (tens or hundreds of thousands of rows) in Microsoft SQL Server. If you specify the option DATA_COMPRESSION=PAGE in the SQL query statement, the Create Index process may fail, and you may receive an Access Violation (AV) error.
Resolution
This issue is fixed in tbe following cumulative updates for SQL Server 2016:
Cumulative Update 4 for SQL Server 2016 SP1
Cumulative Update 6 for SQL Server 2014 Service Pack 2.
