An update that addresses the following issues is available for Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2) and for Windows Server 2008 SP2.
Issue 1You start an application that uses the Mshtml.dll module (for example, Windows Internet Explorer 9 or Windows Live Messenger). The Mshtml.dll module uses the DirectWrite API. However, the application takes longer than expected to start.
Issue 2You cannot print a page of an XPS document that has a transparent background in Internet Explorer 9.
Issue 1This issue occurs because the DirectWrite fonts are not cached. Therefore, the application creates a new copy of the DirectWrite font cache for a single use when the application starts.
Issue 2This issue occurs because the XPS-to-GDI-conversion code does not support transparent backgrounds.
