Symptoms

Assume that you install a large hard disk on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. For example, the size of the hard disk is larger than 2 terabytes. In this situation, there is a short delay before Windows starts.

Cause

This issue occurs because the Microsoft Software Shadow Copy provider is being initialized.

Resolution

Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Prerequisites

More Information

Note After you install this hotfix, you must restart the computer. When you do this, you may notice a delay while the computer shuts down Windows, and also an additional delay during the startup process before Windows starts.
