Consider the following scenario:
This issue occurs because of timing conditions in the communication between a VM and its host.
When the internal queue is full, a TDR may occur.
After you install the following hotfix, the possibility of a TDR significantly decreases.
Hotfix informationThe x64-based package must be installed on the server and VMs that are running x64-based operating systems. The x86-based package must be installed on VMs that are running x86-based operating systems. First install the hotfix on the VMs, and then install the hotfix on the server. To install the following hotfix on a VM, start the VM, run the hotfix, and then shut down the VM. After you install the hotfix on the VM, install the hotfix on the server, and then restart the server.
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, submit a request to Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.
