Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 fix release.

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services (SSAS 2008 R2) on a computer.
  • You run a query that uses the MDSCHEMA_MEMBERS rowset and a [MEMBER_NAME] restriction against a parent/child hierarchy of a parent/child dimension.

In this scenario, SSAS 2008 R2 might stop responding. Additionally, you receive the following error message in the System log: 
The SQL Server Analysis Services <Your_SSAS_Name> service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this n time(s).

RESOLUTION
