Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a Japanese version of a Windows Embedded Compact 7-based image on a device that includes the following locale settings and components.

    Locale Setting:

    • Language Packs to Build: Japanese (Japan) - (0411)

    • Installed UI Language Packs: Japanese (Japan) - (0411)

    • Default UI Language: Japanese (Japan) - (0411)

    • Default Locale: Japanese - (ja)

    Components:

    • Microsoft Input Method Editor (IME) 3.1 for Japanese (SYSGEN_IMEJPN)

    • MS Gothic & MS PGothic & MS UI Gothic font set (SYSGEN_FONTS_MSGOTHIC)

    • Unicode Script Processor for Complex Scripts (SYSGEN_UNISCRIBE)

  • You start the device and open an editable dialog box.

  • You type some full-width numeric characters in the text box.

In this scenario, you notice that the full-width numeric characters are displayed as squares.

Cause

This problem occurs because of a problem in the font linking logic in the Uniscribe module.
