Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Microsoft SQL Server 2012 fixes in one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security updates that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or SQL Server 2012 update release.
Symptoms
When you try to run a Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) query that uses some sub queries in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services (SSAS 2008 R2) or in Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services (SSAS 2012), it might take a long time to run the MDX query.
Note This issue is more likely to occur when both the dimensions and the measure groups are stored in Relational Online Analytical Processing (ROLAP) storage mode.Cause
This issue occurs because the subcube's data is treated incorrectly as non-cache data when it is cached. Therefore, additional SQL queries are run to obtain the data from storage instead of from the cache. This results in slow performance.
