SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You attach a storage device to a Windows Embedded Compact 7-based device.
  • You format the storage device as Extended FAT (exFAT) file system (FAT12, FAT16, or FAT32).
  • You run an application that starts multiple threads that create and write files on the storage device.

In this scenario, the file system of the storage device may become corrupted.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of a buffer management issue in the exFAT file system driver.
