Symptoms

Assume that you use the Tasklist.exe tool on a computer that is running one of the following operating systems:

  • Windows Vista

  • Windows Server 2008

  • Windows 7

  • Windows Server 2008 R2

  • Windows 8

  • Windows Server 2012

When the operating system is under a heavy load, the Tasklist.exe tool displays no process information.For example, assume that you run the following command:tasklist.exe /FI “IMAGENAME eq lsass.exe”In this situation, the Tasklist.exe tool displays the following message even when the Lsass.exe process is running:

INFO: No tasks are running which match the specified criteria.\n

Resolution

Cumulative Update information

Hotfix information

Important This hotfix has been re-released to address an issue in which the digital signature on files produced and signed by Microsoft will expire prematurely, as described in Microsoft Security Advisory 2749655.
