Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:
-
You use a personal virtual desktop virtual machine in Windows 8.1.
-
You create a patch schedule for each personal virtual desktop virtual machine.
In this scenario, you may experience the following issues:
-
Issue 1
Every time that the virtual machine restarts, high memory and CPU usage by the Remote Desktop Virtualization Host (RD Virtualization Host) role service occurs. -
Issue 2
The RD Connection Broker role service leaks memory when personal virtual desktop patching tasks are enumerated. -
Issue 3
The RD Virtualization Host role service enters a deadlock state and stops processing additional tasks.
Cause
This problem occurs because the patching of the personal virtual desktop for each virtual machine is cumulated incorrectly, and the shared Read/Write lock is used incorrectly.
Resolution
To resolve these issues, apply the following hotfix. This hotfix fixes the following specific issues:
-
Issue 1
The RD Virtualization Host tracking of the patch schedule when a virtual machine is restarted -
Issue 2
The RD Connection Broker role service memory management when patch schedules are enumerated -
Issue 3
The RD Virtualization Host task processing synchronization
