Summary
This Microsoft Update fixes an issue in Visual Studio 2013 Update 1 that causes the Notifications hub to stop displaying notifications for updates to Visual Studio or installed Visual Studio extensions.

Note This hotfix does not affect users who install the later updates, such as Visual Studio 2013 Update 2.
Prerequisites
To install this hotfix, you must have Visual Studio 2013 Update 1 installed.
Restart requirement
You have to restart Visual Studio 2013 after you install the hotfix.
Workaround
To work around this issue, follow these steps:

Open Visual Studio 2013, and then click Tools.

Click Extensions and Updates.

Under Updates, you can download the updates to Visual Studio or installed Visual Studio extensions.
