Symptoms
This issue occurs as you connect a USB 2.1 device to a USB 2.0 port or a USB 3.0 port on a computer that is running Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2. The Binary Device Object Store (BOS) descriptor validation for the USB device fails.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, install update rollup 2967917. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
