Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a computer that has a large amount of memory and that's running Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Windows 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2.
  • You run an application that does batch processing in which many files and folders are created, deleted, moved, or renamed.

Every time that a folder is renamed in this scenario, a sharp increase in CPU usage occurs, and this causes performance issues on the computer.
