Symptoms

Assume that you install update 2919355 on a computer that is running Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2. In this scenario, you encounter the following issues:

  • If you run an application that uses the PeerFinder class in the Windows.Networking.Proximity namespace to detect Wi-Fi, the Wi-Fi detected connection is not established on the application.

  • If you run the Windows Hardware Certification Kit (HCK) Wi-Fi direct proximity test, the test fails. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

Error: PeerFinder.ConnectAsync() returned with exception: System.Exception: The enumeration value is out of range. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706F5)

Cause

This issue occurs because update 2919355 does not include an updated ProximityService.dll file. This causes any application that uses the PeerFinder class to fail.

How to obtain this update

To resolve this issue, we have released an update rollup for Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2.
